Catch up #3 16 Week check up

Friday we went to the 16 week check up w/ Dr. Harris. It was a quick visit! "How ya feeling?, Keep drinking lots of fluids, keep taking your vitamins, eat when you can, I am sorry you are still sooooo sick, I think you will be over the "hump" soon, call me if anything changes." It was a good visit!

We also got to hear baby Hatfield's healthy heartbeat. It was 140! Last visit it was 155. I could listen to that precious "swooshing" heartbeat all day long. I just love it!

Our next appointment is in 4 week. I will have a sonogram, yeahhh! We will get to see the baby. We look getting a quick look at our baby Hatfield, and since I have been so sick we have has a few chances for a sono. It is pure joy to see the heartbeat and the miracle that is growing inside of me. God's creation is amazing!! Please keep our next appointment in your prayers along w/ the health of baby Hatfield. At this 20 week appointment we could find out: Pink or Blue, but Tommy and I have decided to wait until the delivery. This decision has been tough for some of our family and friends that realllllly want to know now. But, we are excited w/ the decison to wait and so is Dr. Harris.

Catch Up# 2 Happy Happy Birthday

Sunday, June 22, was my 33rd birthday! I know it is hard to believe since I look so dang young: ) I wish!

Since I have been so sick, I was not up for a celebration on the town! But my very best friend, Christi said that I had to celebrate, so the party came to me!!! Christi (AKA Jonesy), called on a few of my closest and dearest girlfriends to come over for a Pizza, Salad, Cupcake, & Gatorade party. OK, so I had Gatorade and they had wine!! It was great to hang out w/ my girlfriends. I think it really lifted my spirits! I was a little sickie poo when they first arrived, but all the girl talk was just what the doctor ordered, of course about 20 minutes before everyone left I was feeling pretty yuckie again. But, Hey it was fun while it lasted. Party hats and all!! It was a great time and I appreciate these precious friends. Each one has a special place in my heart and God has brought to my life at different seasons, but all will last a lifetime and I treasure each sister in Christ. Thank y'all so much for the party, your friendship, and the fun gifts. Baby Hatfield will have the best Aunts!!

Catching Up #1 HooDooVooDoo/Acupuncture

My "morning" sickness is still here, but I am surviving and there is a lot to catch up on.

Lets start w/ HOODOOVOODOO! Acupuncture!! OK, so I don't really think it is hoodoovoodoo or else I would not have agreed to try it! After weeks of "morning"sickness I finally gave in to my sweet mother in law's suggestion of trying acupuncture. I was willing to try anything that was not harmful to the baby. I was a little nervous at my first visit, but as soon as I met Dr. Wang all my nerves subsided. Dr. Wang has the sweetest disposition, calming touch, and warm smile. I was in good hands, that and I never looked at the needles.

Dr. Wang placed needles in the back my head, forehead, upper stomach, each wrist, and front of leg shin area. No pain..seriously I barely felt a thing. She then attached a few of the needles to an electrical pulse for about 30 minutes. I could feel the pulse, but again very little pain, maybe a little bee sting. Once this procedure was complete she put teeny tinny needles in each wrist for me to press when I felt nauseous ..really!  That was a little uncomfortable for the next few days. The next few treatments were about the same, maybe a few more needles, maybe a little more of a "bee"sting, but no major pain. I did finally take a look at the long, but very slender needles. My suggestion just don't look at the needles and take a deep breath as the doctor puts them in.. you'll be fine!! On one occasion we switched my take home "wrist" needles for needles in my ear.. that did not feel any better!

I do think the acupuncture helped a little. I did not toss my cookies as much the weeks following treatment! After 4 treatments I decided to take a little break and head to CVS for $10.00 "Seabands" to fight the nausea. I have been sporting the little blue bands for a week and I must admit the nausea is minimum. I have still tossed my cookies, but at least I am not queasy 24/7.

So my new favorite accessory..CVS blue seaband. You too can have this hot new accessory for $10.95. They look like little sweatbands, so I keep telling Tommy that I can take him on the basketball court now..yeah right. Not even on my good day could I take him!

Below: Acupuncture/Acupressure needles. I wore these for a few days before Dr. Wang put them inside my ears. Sorry no photos of my ears.

Father's Day Numero Uno

Sunday we celebrated Tommy's First Father's Day. We started by attempting to make it to church, but baby Hatfield is still causing me a lot of morning, noon, and night sickness. So back to bed for an early morning nap I went. We headed to lunch at a local restaurant w/ family, but we had to make a fast exit thanks to baby Hatfield. I just could not cool off in the restaurant and was feeling pretty sick. Poor Tommy, his first Father's Day was spent caring for his wife. I am sure that both, Tommy and I, would do it all over again in exchange for the miracle that is growing inside of me. Now, we are just excited to see Baby Hatfield celebrating w/ us next year.

In between the naps and sickness I was able to work up a creative gift for Tommy. I think he really did love it. Here are the details:
Last November 2007, Tommy and I went on a 4 week trip around the word. .. literally!! Tommy spent months planning all the details to this once in a life time adventure. It was FABULOUS!!! Our 2007 Christmas card included little snapshots of several of the place we visited on the trip.
The gift: I framed the Christmas card w/ a note attached "THE ADVENTURES DON'T STOP HERE..."
The second gift was a little newborn "onesie" that I personalized w/ Tommy's alma mater (see photos) the note attached: "... THEY ARE JUST BEGINNING". I can't wait to see baby Hatfield wear the onesie.

I love this special day! It was a great chance to remind Tommy how much I love him and appreciate all he does and has been doing for our little family. To remind him that I notice his fruits of the spirit. His patience, love, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, joy, and goodness. I try to tell him every day that I love him.. more and more w each day that passes. Our new little family is a wonderful blessing and I look forward to this baby meeting his/her precious father.
HAPPY FATHER"S DAY, TOMMY. I love you!

Say Cheese!!

Today I am under "house arrest" and working from home. I have had terrible morning, noon, and night sickness for about 7 weeks and counting. During this time I have also had 3 fainting spells... scary stuff! Yesterday was the latest fainting spell at Target check out line of all places... and no it wasn't because of my check out bill. I did go to the Labor and Delivery Observation for a few hours of tests. Everything looks good, including baby's precious heartbeat. So now I am at home resting and waiting for the doctor to call regarding a follow up. I am praying to get over this "morning sickness" ASAP and to be energized. My sweet husband has really been the best!! He has taken over all household chores and w/ a smile on his handsome face. I couldn't have asked for a more loving and caring husband. Please keep us in your prayers> that the sickness will subside, my energy will return, the pregnancy and baby will remain healthy.

I thought I would share the day I told Tommy about the baby:
"Say Cheese"

Tommy was out of town for the weekend for a Bachelor Party. Saturday morning I went to the grocery store to stock up on a few things and decided to buy a pregnancy test. I came home unpacked my goods, and had lunch. I had not planned on taking the test because I did not suspect that it was positive (or at least not yet). But, I decided "what the heck", "what if" ...well:
you know the results and 5 tests later.. only 4 are in the photo. I know, why 5 tests you ask. I had some crazy theory that the 1st 2 might be wrong and they were in the same box. The 3rd was defunk weird kinda negative result (My dear friend Leslie got it for me), so we went to the pharmacy and bought another 2 pack. I took one more and it was positive. I saved the last for Sunday morning as soon as i got up.. just to be sure i was really pregnant and not dreaming.
Can I just say that after the first positive test I dance around the bedroom, jump around then prayed. I also called my sweet sister in law, Joy, right after the first test to come over. I needed to be w/ someone for a few minutes and to be there when I took the second test.

Sunday, Tommy was getting dropped off at home while I was at church. I took the laptop and his car keys w/ me. I did not want him to see that I had searched all night long about "what to do when your pregnant" and I did not want him to leave to work out. I couldn't wait another minute to share the good news. When I got home he was in bed recovering from a long night! Obviously I was anxious for him to get up, shower, and hang out w/ me. After breakfast in bed, he took the longest shower ever, and the longest time to groom. Once he came down to read the morning paper I set up my camera and wanted to try out my new remote. Here is how it all went down:

R: Ok, babe I want to test my new camera remote. Look at the camera and say cheese. (FYI: I had already tested the thing out and got a few shots, see below)
T: Cheese
R: Crap it is a blank photo. (No joke all of the sudden it didn't work like 3 times, I am getting nervous and probably sweating at this point)
R: Lets try again, it is working, Say Cheese (click, flash from the camera)
T: Cheese
R: One more time, Say CHEESE.....(long pause)... RHONDA IS PREGNANT (click, flash)
T:Huhh?!!
R: Seriously (click, flash)
R:Really (click,flash x2 or 5 more times)
T: What is up w/ the camera (who could blame him .. it was flashing like the paparazzi)
R: Oh, ..I was just trying to be clever and get your surprise reaction on film!!

It worked!!! I gave him a few minutes or 20 to let it sink in, I read him the letter I wrote the night before to share all the crazy things I was thinking too, and then we prayed together.
A few hours later we shared our news w/ the rest of the Hatfield Family.

My First Post!!!

I am going to give this a shot. I love to read other blogs... in some wonderful way these women and their blogs minister to me. I have my favorites that I love to check on daily and once I figure out how to create a "blog roll" ( i think that is what it's called) I will list them on my page.

So, I have been encouraged by a few friends to start a blog, but I just did not think I had anything good to write about or share w/ the blog world, that was until April 5th. On April 5th, 2008 I found out that my husband and I are expecting a wonderful blessing in December, our first child. All of a sudden, I think I have plenty to blog about! I love scrapbooks, photo albums, and preserving memories, but I have a few unfinished projects of such from 3 years ago, so I probably should not commit to starting a scrapbook for the baby until I complete my other projects. But, the great thing about blogging is that is takes less time, less supplies, zero money, and less mess and I can print a book of all my blogs and photos at the end of the end of the year... PERFECT SOLUTION!!!!

As I begin this blog about this wonderful season of life, I pray that God will guide my words. Let the adventures begin!
